Mac Angle Tie

Corrosion of ties or restraining systems is not unique to low rise buildings. The problem is also seen on high rise buildings where the goalpost links or other fixings restraining cladding panels have failed. Many of the ties were of a type of bronze material which is susceptible to stress corrosion and oxidization and others were incorrectly bonded into the concrete. Serious tie failures have occurred. It is not feasible to as certain the true state of the existing ties, and therefore, it is essential to re-secure every panel. This must be done without disturbing the occupants. The MAC ANGLETIE was designed to solve this problem and utilises the well proven Mac expander as its fixing system. The principle is to eliminate bending stress by angling the anchor upwards at 450 so that the panel and wind suction forces are resisted by tension in the tie. Far fewer ties with much smaller diameter holes results from this principle. The Mac Angletie has as 8mm diameter rod and all steel components used are of A2, 300 series austenitic stainless steel.
